RESPONSE BRIEF: The C.L.A.S.S Agency Project
As part of a community-driven project, teams from the Interior Design and Color and Materials Design programs at the College for Creative Studies worked together to create a platform that promotes regeneration and revitalization within an ecosystem in Detroit. They collaborated with a local community partner, Changing Lives and Staying Sober (The C.L.A.S.S. Agency), a 501(c)3 organization licensed by the State of Michigan-LARA to provide Prevention, Intervention, and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatment to both adults and children within the Detroit 48219 zip code. The students designed spacial environments that promote well-being through sustainable practices, mindful materials, connectivity, and the increased capacity for positive development. During this process, the students explored the balance between simplicity and complexity to enhance the community's systems, environments, and lifestyles.
